Eric Gropper ranches on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in southwest South Dakota, where he and his wife and daughters operate a cow/calf operation alongside his parents. They also raise and train performance Quarter Horses.
Gropper serves as president of the Oglala Livestock and Landowners Association and has worked alongside R-CALF USA for several years. After the 2019 packing plant fire in Holcomb, Kansas, he became frustrated with what he saw as manipulation in the cattle markets and made the decision to get more involved.
He now serves as vice president of R-CALF USA and Region X director, representing Native American ranchers across the country. Gropper is committed to strengthening the cattle industry and ensuring it remains viable for future generations. He believes R-CALF USA is the only organization willing to take a stand and fight for what is right and is always willing to listen and visit with anyone ready to stand up for the American rancher and the future of independent producers.
