WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 13, 2026 — On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the Farmer and Rancher Freedom Framework to address agricultural lawfare and advanced key elements of the National Farm Security Action Plan, including a memorandum of understanding with the Department of War to strengthen coordination on national agricultural security.
R-CALF USA Property Rights Chair Shad Sullivan released the following statement in response.
“We commend Secretary Brooke Rollins and the Trump administration for taking steps to defend the freedoms of America’s farmers and ranchers and strengthen the security and resilience of American agriculture.
“The Farmer and Rancher Freedom Framework represents a meaningful step toward defending family farmers and ranchers from legal and regulatory actions that threaten private property rights, food security and the survival of independent producers.
“It has been an honor to work alongside Secretary Rollins and the administration in this effort. This reflects a renewed commitment to the constitutional principles of liberty and private property rights that have long defined our nation.
“We also recognize USDA’s efforts to strengthen farm security as a matter of national security in advancing key parts of the National Farm Security Action Plan. Protecting farmland, securing supply chains and safeguarding American agriculture are essential to preserving our freedom and food supply.”
