R-CALF USA

California, Hawaii, and Nevada

I am a fourth-generation rancher in a partnership with my family. We are cattle and sheep producers and also raise alfalfa. Our operation is in northwest Nevada and northeast California. We are headquartered 30 miles southwest of Gerlach, Nevada, in Washoe County.

Ours is a cow/calf and sheep operation using public lands nearly 12 months a year with both the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service. I have worked with the BLM in writing and implementing grazing allotment and fire rehab management plans. I have also worked on riparian restoration on both public and private lands.

I have served on the Washoe County, Nevada, wildlife advisory board, have been a member of the Society for Range Management, and serve on the Agricultural Research Service’s advisory board.

R-CALF USA is the only organization that is willing to support livestock producer concerns–whether it’s imports, mandatory country of origin labeling, the mandatory RFID tags, or, most importantly to me, the market power of the meat packers in the U.S. These issues must be addressed, and common sense must prevail if our industry is going to survive for the next generation.
