Ranching Women Create Calendar Fundraiser; Raise More Than $12,500

Billings, Mont.- Six women in ranching, and longtime R-CALF USA members, created a successful calendar fundraiser campaign for the organization: Theresa Fox of Hermosa, South Dakota; Delia Johnson of Fairburn, South Dakota; DeLynn Hanson of Fort Pierre, South Dakota; Dawn Schultz of Brewster, Kansas; Brenda Thornsberry of Richland, Missouri; and Candi Chambers of Carrollton, Georgia, form the R-CALF USA Calendar Committee.

The committee is currently selling 2022 R-CALF USA calendars with all sale proceeds going toward R-CALF USA’s efforts for U.S. cattle industry reforms.

“We are very grateful for the hard work and dedication it takes from the committee to create the calendars and for their successful fundraising efforts,” said R-CALF USA Marketing Coordinator Jaiden Moreland. “The calendars were a huge hit this year and we are excited to see what the committee comes up with next!”

“We created the calendar as a way to raise funds that everybody could afford and be a part of,” Johnson said. “We wanted to get valuable information out in a piece of literature that will hang on the wall all year long. It’s a way to introduce people to the ranching/farming life that we all take for granted, and we included the information about the board, the staff, the goals, and the accomplishments of R-CALF, all important to draw more members in.”

Beneath the beautiful, artistic cover designed by Avery Kasper of Ellsworth, Kansas, Johnson said the calendar uniquely displays 200 brands of ranching families around the country, hand drawn by Tyler Robertson of Hermosa, South Dakota, as well as 12 ranch photos from members of the R-CALF USA Board of Directors, and facts and information about the organization.

The group of women have been seeing large successes in their sales of the calendars and hope to continue it as a yearly fundraiser.

“It’s been a labor of love,” said Fox. “We’ve been able to donate $12,500 to R-CALF so far, but we want to make that $20,000! We are currently selling 2022 calendars for $20 plus shipping, but we are also selling different spots in the upcoming 2023 calendar.”

The committee said there are many opportunities to contribute to the fundraiser: to purchase a 2022 calendar is $20, to place a brand in the calendar is $25, to feature a ranch photo on a calendar month is $250, to advertise a bull or horse sale on its date is $25, and to advertise a business is $100 on a back page or $250 on a month.
