Jaime Oberling – Region XIV Director
Illinois, Indiana and Michigan
I was born Feb. 19, 1961 in Quincy, IL. I was raised on a cattle and hay farm near Payson, IL. I attended one year of college at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill., then came back home to work as a ring man and auctioneer in 1980 at Schuyler Livestock Sales in Rushville, Ill. In 1995, I purchased sale from my mother and father, and I still operate sale as long as 160 acre grain and cattle operation. I have been to several auctioneer contests, including some in Canada. I have been married to Michele for 25 years and we have 2 children, Justin is 20 years old and Ashley is 18 years old.
I joined R-CALF several years ago because was unhappy with what NCBA was doing. I agree with R-CALF’s goals as they seem to be only organization trying to help the cattle producer.
My goals while a director include educating younger people of the goals of R-CALF, what is truly going on in the cattle business. Many young people only hear 1 version: FFA & NCBA.
