Joel Gill, Region XII Director
Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi

Joel Gill and his wife Ann live in Pickens, MS, where he serves as Mayor. They have two adult children and many precious grandchildren. A longtime independent livestock dealer, Joel and his brother continue to run the company founded by their father in 1964, buying cattle across the southeast and shipping them to the states of TX, KS, NM, CO, OK and NE. Joel has served on the Mississippi Beef Council since 1992 and currently serves as President of the Mississippi Livestock Markets Association. Joining R-CALF USA in 2003, he was active in achieving a workable C.O.O.L. (Country of Origin Labeling), participated in 2005 in the R-CALF USA fact finding team that investigated the effect of the C.A.F.T.A. on both the United States producers as well as the producers of that region. Moving up from Mississippi state membership chair to national membership co-chair in 2007, he later represented R-CALF USA before its sister organization the Australian Beef Association in Toowoomba, NSW that same year. Joel continues to serve the organization as Checkoff chairman and region XII director.
