Margene Eiguren, Region I Director
 Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington

My name is Margene Eiguren and my husband Richard and I are cow/calf producers in Jordan Valley, Oregon. I am honored to represent the members of Region I on the R-CALF USA Board of Directors.

I grew up on a cow calf ranch in Idaho.  We have three sons, who are involved in the ranching business with us and one daughter and eleven grandchildren.

I was never involved in a cattle organization to any degree until R-CALF USA came into existence.  I believe the early 1990s were the beginning of many of the market competition problems facing U.S. cattle producers and the founders of R-CALF USA recognized that U.S. cattle producers were in need of a strong organization that represented the producer’s voice exclusively if these problems were to be addressed. Because I agreed with this vision, I became a passionate supporter of R-CALF USA.

In Oregon, I served as a founding member and as secretary of Oregon Livestock Producers Association (OLPA), with the explicit purpose of affiliating with R-CALF USA, so that Oregon producers would have the opportunity to support the only national organization that was supporting them exclusively. I also am the R-CALF USA Oregon State Membership Chair.

I served as the Co-Chair on the R-CALF USA Membership Committee and last year at the 2007 convention the membership wrote and proudly passed into policy this new motto for R-CALF USA: “Fighting for the U.S. Cattle Producer.” As Region 1 Director, I am so honored to be able to be a part of the only national cattle organization fighting to give U.S. cattle producers the tools they need to be competitive in the industry.
